Welcome to FSMPLI-Scorecard!

FSMPLI-Scorecard is an Open Access Web-Based Diagnostic Tool for evaluating the effectiveness of the Enabling Regulatory Environment of Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) Services. This tool is designed to facilitate situational analyses of the policy, legal and institutional frameworks of FSM services along the whole chain. It helps to generate recommendations for improvement toward strengthening sanitations systems vital for universal access to safe and sustainable sanitation services. It can be applied for any predefined study area such as a region, a country, a state, a county, a subcounty or a city.

Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) consists of interlinked steps of non-sewered sanitation systems from the user interface (toilet), containment, emptying, transport, treatment, value addition and disposal or reuse of faecal sludge.

FSMPLI-Scorecard was developed by researchers from the Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, under a research (partially) funded by an African Doctoral Dissertation Research Fellowship (ADDRF) Award offered by the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) and funded by the Bill and Melinda gates Foundations thorough a project grant to APHRC.
